In a desperate attempt to get the number of dollars they need for the year to be profitable, a number of airlines have started to charge individually for any number of items that used to be free and a part of the ticket purchase. Not only are airlines charging to put luggage underneath the plane, but some airlines are even charging for each carryon that a person has and this might mean that the small piece of childrens luggage that barely takes up any room will require an extra fee because of the airlines' new surcharges.
